Turning 40 is a significant milestone in life, marking the end of one era and the beginning of another. It has been a time for positive reflection for me. It is the time to reflect on what has been accomplished, take stock of our room for improvement and set goals for the future.
For some, turning 40 may be accompanied by feelings of anxiety or trepidation. We may worry that we have not achieved enough, or that time is running out to achieve our dreams. Most of us will live another 40 years and have a great deal of time and we want to make sure we use that time as well as possible.
I have had major shortcomings that I can reflect upon. While I am not always proud of these I am thankful for them. They have taught me my most valuable lessons and provided me with the most room for improvement. No one has a linear path up even if it seems that way.
In my own life I am thankful to be married to my beautiful wife of 12 years, have two beautiful daughters, have friends I am thankful for, have a faith that guides me and a career that while challenging allows me to do good in the world.
Ultimately, turning 40 is a time to celebrate all that we have achieved, and to look forward to the future with hope and excitement. It is a time to embrace our strengths, acknowledge our weaknesses, and continue to grow and evolve as individuals. I recently had the blessing of going to my hometown for a 40th birthday party and saw old teachers, family, and high school friends. It was such a blessing to see where I have come from and where I am going in life. Wherever you are in your journey cheers and best wishes.
